Duplicate stitch -- sew over each knitting stitch with a large, blunt darning needle & a contrasting color of yarn.

Or use the same tools (yarn & needle) to embroider on top of the knitting.

Instead of yarn, you can use embroidery floss:

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking here. If you can give us some more details, it might be easier to help you.

ETA

I would embroider it on rather than knitting it separately. Use yarn the colour you want your name to be and then either use back stitch (or some other embroidery stitch) or duplicate stitch (this is when you completely cover one of your knitted stitches with the embroidery yarn). Since your cellphone cover is probably fairly small, embroidering it is likely to be your best option. (Searching youtube for 'embroider knitting' gives a variety of ideas.)

Good luck

If you mean having a pattern created from a photo, that's going to be extremely costly. Figure at least $100 for the pattern. Check your local yarn shop and see if any designers are willing to do the work. Better yet, check the patterns at your local yarnshop. Odds are you can find something similar. Or show the shop owner your photos and see if she can find a similar pattern. If you mean making a colored design on your sweaters that looks like a photograph, be aware than anything more than two colors in any given row is a real challenge even to an experienced knitter.

You can do the letters in cross stitch . Get some knitting graph paper and draw on the letters. You can get printable graph paper on line or at a craft store.

Next time you knit something and you want to knit in the letters (this is called intarsia) you still need to do it from graph paper and knit in as you go.

I have yet to come across an effective method of "translating" patterns. It's not only because the height/width don't match up but also because the finished product is so different. They end up needing to be worked very differently whether knit or crochet.

remember the chart will read back wards for this idea. i did it twice before i got it right it is not hard in fact it is very easy but you start with the last letter of name first if you are doing the whole name
