Does this person like to cross stitch from kits? Buy her a kit relating to something she likes, such as animals, kitchen stuff, funny sayings, etc. Kits come with everything needed to finish that project.

If she like to do her own thing, buy an assortment of DMC embroidery floss, Aida cloth in different stitch counts, etc.

Any stitcher would love a cute pair of embroidery scissors. They can get pretty fancy, so there's lots to choose from. Also, pin cushions or needle holders. Good luck!

Gold or silver scissors - Gingher scissors are a fairly good quality and you can get a pair with handles shaped like a stork for $8-$12 A pair of platinum needles about $5.00, a scissor fob - various prices -- do a google search and you should find plenty. Needle cases -- look here for an idea of how they look http://home.att.net/~rspragg/needlecase.html, laying tools and needle minders http://www.cross-stitch.ca/category_results2.cfm?Category=1&SubCategory=269

There are many, many accessories for cross stitchers. Some of these are: Magnifiers, needle threader, needle caddy, binder insert, binder, magnetic needle holder, packages of floss collections, needle polisher, and emery bag. There are many others, but these are the ones I appreciate the most. Your friend might like some of these too. If you are buying a few of these, you could present them in a storage container or a basket. Hope I have given you ideas. Good luck.

How well do you know this person? There are lots of accessories for storing floss and you could pick several so they can try them and find a favorite. If they have a favorite though, stick with that.

Little scissors are always going missing.

Or maybe a subscription to a cross stitch magazine.

If you really, really like them you might consider these: http://www.qsnap.com/needlework_frames.asp.

I would go to a hobby/fabric shop and ask them what they recommend. You can get many different kinds of needles, threads, hoops, fabric...scissors and kits...

You can get the cross stitching kits too that have everything you need, just find a pretty one to get them.

Or you could get a gift certificate and let them pick out what they want.

Hope this helps! :-)

Gifts For Cross Stitchers

I'm currently doing one for my brother (also getting married in July). It's from Bent Creek and it's called wedding row. It's a long, skinny pattern just 3inx18in. It's very simple and just reads "Of my love be sure" but it has a pretty ribbon and heart boarder around it with Xs and Os tossed in here in there. In the bottom right corner it has their names and wedding date. Definitely try eBay! They have all kinds of cross stitch patterns.

I would agree that it is probably a good idea to give a gift certificate from a stitchery store. There is such a variety of accessories to chose from, and specialized tools as well. She might have something in mind that she's just gotta have, and hasn't gotten to it, etc.
