You're going to knit the first two stitches like normal, then bring your yarn foward and over the right needle. With the yarn wrapped like that, insert the right needle into the next two stitches at the same time, and knit, then knit the next stitch.

What you are doing is creating an eyelet, or basic lace. the yarn-over will create a hole and a new stitch on your needle, and when you knit the next two stitches together, you are keeping the same number of stitches on your needle that you started with.

If you scroll down to the bottom of this link, you can see a video about how to make a yarn over. http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/increase.php

Knit Two Together Yarn Over

K6 means knit 6 stitches not 6 rows. K2 tog means you insert the point of the right hand needle thru the 2nd and the 1st stitch on the left hand needle at the same time, wrap the yarn around the needle and pull the yarn thru both stitches. This is called decreasing. For videos google "how to decrease knitting" When instructions are in brackets you repeat the instruction between ( and ) the number of times given. In this case all the way round to where you started.

so... at the beginning of the row you knit the first two stitches. then bring the yarn to the front as if to purl. insert the needle in the second stitch and the first stitch together and knit them as one. then knit the next stitch like normal. then your pattern will probably have you repeat this over and over to the end of the row.
