Looking for seat cover Crochet patterns for rocking chair and sofa. Anyone know a site online for tutorials?

I'm wanting to find seat cover tutorials to for sofa and rocking chair. Does anyone have a tutorial that they like to share? I have a book, but they only show pillows, and blankets. But nothing about seat covers. Any ideas?

When I hear "seat cover" I think of the things we used to put in cars to protect the upholstery. I'd call that a "slip cover" for a sofa. I haven't seen any tutorials or directions for doing that; you might have to wing it with general crochet skills.

I can relate--2 of my 6 cats have claws and they are mystified as to why I scream at them when they sharpen their claws on the couch.



My sofa is a 3-cushion deal with loose back cushions. If I were going to do a slipcover for it, I'd start with the cushions. Each one will need a top and a bottom, so that's 12 flat pieces. I could either start at one side of a cushion with a chain and then crochet tightly (probably single crochet or sc alternating with dc to get a firm fabric) to the other side of the cushion OR start in the middle with a circle and crochet a square similar to a granny square, increasing in the corners, until the square is the right size. Once I had 2 pieces exactly the same size, I'd crochet a boxing strip to go all the way around the outside of the square. Take a top, a bottom, and a boxing strip and crochet them together on the OUTSIDE with a decorative joining. Do that 6 times and you have the cushions covered. Then just think of the rest of the sofa as a group of pieces of fabric crocheted together. Crochet a piece to fit a portion of the sofa and set it aside while you crochet the next piece, then crochet them together with decorative stitches. Think of it as "one piece at a time" rather than as a whole slipcover.



If you decide to experiment with stripes, you'll probably want to sketch out the way they will go together so the strips will match, but otherwise, it should be a fun project!

Knit 5; pearl 4 or whatever. Oh, and Jack you are much better looking than Mikey. The real answer is of course sheepskin. You use sheepskin as a Harley seat cover not some ugly crochet pattern.

Looks likeyou be able to use some but somehow they always manage to slip something else in but this time I will leave the sewing in as if the crochet does not fit the bill you can resort to sewing.
