Scrapbooking is arranging bits and pieces of memorabilia into an album type book.

For example, you want to make a scrapbook of your time in camp. You take little items that represents memories like a leaf or a bottlecap, you put it on a page and embellish the rest of the page and write the memory attached to the item next to it. The items could be photographs but not necessarily so.

Scrapbooking is a more unique way of preserving memories. You can scrap tickets, fabric, pictures, anything. It's more personal then throwing pictures in an album or box. Most people start with nice paper, a few pictures, adhesive, and just go to it. Most scrapbook stores offer beginner classes, chexk into these. Also be sure you journal you pictures and inclide them in your page. Good Luck and happy Scrapping

Scrapbooking is a way to preserve your memories and to pass them on to future generations. It can be as "plain-jane" or as creative & embellished as you like.

Normally the idea is to use photos and add journaling to tell your story - you can print, write or type your journaling bits. You can also add memorabilia like concert tickets, plane tickets, travel brochures, valentines, love letters, etc.

You can use many different "embellishments" - stickers, brads, flowers, buttons, ribbons, glitter, etc. You can use rubber stamping & inking techniques.

You can start by getting some magazines like:

*Paper Crafts

*Creating Keepsakes

*Scrapbooks Etc

A great resource book is:

"The Encyclopedia of Scrapbooking Tools & Techniques"

(by Susan Pickering Rothamel)

You can go online and google search for words like:

*scrapbook

*scrapbooking

*scrapbooking tips

*scrapbook techniques

*scrapbook ideas

(and many others that you think of)

You can go to www.splitcoaststampers.com

You can attend classes that are local in your area.

You can shop at physical stores like Michaels, scrapbook stores in your area or when you travel, or you can purchase from online stores (I love www.whatwefound.net)

You can host in-home workshops through Stampin Up! (visit www.stampinup.com and look up a demonstrator near you) - you can earn great hostess benefits!

Most important though - remember to have FUN!!! It is a fantastic creative outlet.

Note: Scrapbooking is a bit of a sore spot with me because too many people consider it a "craft," which would place it with real crafts, such as jewelry, woodworking, and ceramics. It is not on a level anywhere near that. It is kitsch at best and art for people with no talent at worst

That said, you glue bits of paper in a book. Oh, yes, quite exciting.

It's scraps of papers, stickers, photos, copies of newspaper clippings, etc on a page.

Google scrapbook, or scrapbook tips, or scrapbook layouts for plenty of ideas.

If you have many digital photos you might consider going into digital scrapbooking. It won't cost you that much money and you will realize if it's what you need.
