You can view this free - http://sewingonline.co.uk/instructions/singer427/

Click on the arrows at the bottom of the mini screen to see the manual and to advance the pages.

Or, purchase the manual.

Winding the bobbin - this is at the the top right front. Place the thread on the thread spool, around the front guide on the top left of the machine, down through the guide above the tension control, across and down and around the pin at the bottom right of the machine then up to the bobbin winding pin.

Pull about four inches of thread through the side hole on the bobbin spool and place the bobbin onto the bobbin pin.

Loosen the center knob on the hand wheel.

Move the bobbin and bobbin pin toward the bobbin winding wheel and press on the power pedal.

Threading is easy on this machine.

Raise the presser foot and then the needle until the uptake leaver is at it's highest position.

Place the thread spool on the spool pin so the thread is feeding off the back of the spool.

Take the thread across to the left and around the guide that is the closest to the front of the machine.

Then down and around the tension control so it slips into the the disks.

Then take the thread up and through the eye on the uptake lever.

Back down through any guides you encounter and then thread the needle.

Don't forget to tighten the center knob on the hand wheel before you start to sew.

You should get the manual to be sure about inserting the needle so it is positioned correctly and general maintenance of the machine.

When did you last replace the needle? Is it turned right way around? Backwards, bent or damaged needles won't pick up the bobbin thread. Neither will machines that are improperly threaded.

You could also visit your local craft store (like JoAnn Fabrics) and see of someone there might be able to assist you.

Good luck.
