Just a suggestion, but if you're just making one pendant, perhaps you could use Precious Metal Clay instead of setting up a complete silversmithing studio in your home. You need far fewer tools, and you can make things like these:

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1G1TSHBCENUS441&q=precious+metal+clay&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=x-p1T-ibMoixiQKT-8CnDg&biw=1713&bih=851&sei=zep1T5usEcLfiAKRtLGnDg

An alternative would be to find a jewelry making class in your area.

But if you really want to go the traditional route:

Search the internet for "Precious Metal Clay".

My favorite resource is http://www.riogrande.com/default.aspx. They have a wide selection of tools and a good inventory of how-to videos. Give them a try. Good luck with your project.
