I received a great answer letting me know about Lendrum's wheels (and WOW are they NICE). What's your favorite brand/model? Tell me why! I love to hear people's opinions!

Girl, this is like asking what's your favorite car and why . As I told you before I love my Lendrums, but there are a lot of wonderful wheels out there. One of these days I'm going to own the Irish Castle wheel I spent much of the day demonstrating spinning on in a vendor's booth because I didn't want to stop trying it out . But currently wonderful and available, and reasonably affordable, wheels out there with great popularity are those from Kromski, as well as the Ashfords and Majacraft wheels. The Kromskis have that *antique* look that people think of when they see spinning wheels in their mind and are very nice to spin on, one of these days I may acquire one. Dundas wheels are also gorgeous, but expensive, as are Schact's (another wheel I'd love to own). Robin wheels are on backorder till about 2010, but each one is hand-crafted and spin beautifully, too. I take the opportunity each year at sheep and wool festivals to try out wheels that appeal to me or are calling my name. You're going to find out that for most spinners wheels are like potato chips, you can't own only one.

I would suggest that you look into joining some of the Yahoo groups for spinners. We are a nice bunch of people and new spinners are always welcome. I think you can e-mail me directly, and if you do I will gladly give you the URLs of some of them that you may find helpful.

I had a Leclerc which was a really nice wheel, but I had to give up spinning because of asthma, and sold it. I have a gorgeous little antique parlour wheel, black with ivory finials. I used it a bit, but it's a temperamental little dear. Lovely to look at, though! I have it dressed with flax, though I never attempted to spin it.
