To be very honest with you, you are not going to get the BEST RC car or plane for $50. You are going to find junk (not kidding, junk) for $50. You will break it eventually and not be able to find replacement parts to fix it. If you are serious about getting into RC (and it's a hobby you will love the rest of your life!) then you need to get a hobby grade RC. Stay away from Walmart and Radio Shack. Check out www.towerhobbies.com. Do a search for Traxxas Slash. If you can up your budget a little to $200-$250 you can get the Traxxas Slash. Ready to run out of the box. Open it up, put in some batteries and you are racing! It's a beginner RC, top of the line brand with excellant customer service and readily available replacement parts and upgrades. You will be able to fix anything on the truck that you break at any time. At Tower Hobbies, the home page has some coupon codes you can enter when you order to take a few extra $$$'s off the price tag. And they have free shipping. With the Slash there is an easy pay option too. Meaning you can pay the total cost off over a period of 3 months. So your RC that costs $250, your credit card will be charged $83 for the next 3 months. Makes it a little easier to get it paid off and your aren't dropping $250 at once. If you want to see how the Slash runs, or any RC you are looking at, do a search on YouTube. There are millions of videos you can watch to give you an idea of what you are buying or looking at before you buy it. When looking to buy a quality RC keep these brand names in mind, and check out their individual web sites: Traxxas, HPI, Losi, Associated, Kyosho and Tamiya. These are the Top-Of-The-Line RC manufacturers. Tower hobbies has planes as well. Just do a search. OR, if you don't mind buying something used, check out ebay for some better deals on a used RC by the above listed brand names. Hope this helps.
