I made Christmas cards this year at CropMom (http://www.cropmom.com). You can use a template or make your own card from scratch.

You can add your own photos.

After you're done with the card, save it and you can download a free version to share on the Web or purchase a high-resolution version for printing at home (or to have printed at a photofinisher).

I like making these "shaker" cards, here's a video:

http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-a-shaker-greeting-card-244662/

You can use any paper that you want and you can just use scissors and/or craft knife if you don't have any of the tools mentioned in the video. You need paper, transparency film, adhesive (like a tape runner), scissors, confetti (or other items to go in the shaker) and whatever else you want to decorate your card with. You make it just what you want. Everyone LOVES these shaker cards!

I also love making 3-d cards. I came across this site and they call it "paper tole" and they have instructions and supplies to make them:

I've gotten the 3-d sheets either pre-cut or ones that are uncut. My mom and I made them for our Christmas cards last year. We used the uncut ones that they took about 1 hour to assemble each card - a labor of love. But the cards are darling. We got them here and they are the brand Romak. It's hard to see the sheets up close, but the image detail in person is superb and well done. I will do it again.

So, this may be a project to think of for future uses! Good luck!

I made mine at http://www.mirbit.com In the dragz section you upload a photo and then add borders, items and text to it. There are some really nice Christmas borders, and also have things like Santa and Elf hats that you can put on people's heads. Once you've made your image you can email it to friends as an eCard, print as a traditional card or save it to your computer (great for festive profile pictures!)

My cards turned out great, and saved me so much money since its free to use the site!

Not sure what you enjoy doing but there are great rubber stamps out there!

You could make "snow globe cards" where you cut a hole in the front of the card and make a clear plastic pocket with glitter or confetti sandwiched inside.

Martha Stewart has these great glue pens so you can write in your own handwriting and then add superfine glitter to make it sparkle!

You could make some festive pop up cards.

Here are some cute and unusual ideas too:

- pop-up cards [www.http://robertsabuda.com/popmake/index.as. has some great ideas & instructions]

- use xmas symbols -- santa, tree, reindeers, gifts, poinsettias, holly, mistletoe, cookies, stockings, snow, snowman, wreaths, angels, star, the Magi, Jesus in crib/manger, ....... use an enlarged image/drawing of any single symbol or use them in combinations to create a scene/a story...

- use xmas colors - green, red, white along with some glitter. go surrealistic or neo-modern!

- glue stuff instead of or along with artwork -- stickers, glitter, dried flowers & herbs, color/printed paper cutouts, wool, yarn, fabric, cotton-wool, sequins, beads, metallic wires, laces, origami, satin ribbons, etc....

- make a globe & encircle it with poinsettia or holly garland, showing how the entire world is united in celebrating.

- make it humorous - add some cartoon characters - make it into a cartoon strip or a christmasy scene. do this for small kids - they'll love it!

- do a mix & match combo of the above

hope these inspire you & get you started

all the very best & have fun - let the creative juices flow :-))
