I have been scrapbooking for 5 years off and on and am always checking the scrapbook magazines for new ideas. Getting together with other scrapbookers and seeing their work is probably the best way. I had a house fire last June and luckily my scrapbooks made it out ( a great reason to get those pictures out of boxes and into books!) Since I lost over half my materials I have been too upset to get started again. Luckily, there have been a few girls that have had babies recently and since I love giving handmade cards, my juices started flowing again. Feel free to call me and maybe you can check out some of my scrapbooks (my next book is going to be a little one about the fire!) My name is Melissa 222-7537

I would start by organizing the pics into years. I would have1 album for growing up: early infant years, flower girl in wedding when i was like 4, me and my little sis varying ages from like 2-13, me with best friend progressive age from like 3-11 but like 6 pics me with grandparents (differing ages), vacation to theme park in like '98, injury day-jr. high, 8th grade six flags trip, my 8th grade graduation, and 8th grade banquet. Then you could have another album for years 1999 - current.

There are 100's of ways to organize your photos. Just make sure to use acid free materials to get the most out of your pictures and have them last forever. Embellishments are always a must!

Well, you got them organized- and that's a BIG hurdle right there. Try putting the pictures into chronological order (you don't have to scrap that way, but it does help with the organization) and store your photos. I use a photo storage box and have different event photos separated using a large index card. That way I can write on the card, scratch stuff out and reuse it if I feel like it.

I was VERY overwhelmed when I first started scrapping. I went to a Creative Memories party (like a Tupperware party) and that helped. I also started with the most recent photos I had taken (a trip to Europe) and worked on that first. I did two huge books on that and then worked on my "real life." If you have lots of pics of your dog (and I'm sure you do!) you could create a smaller- 7x7, 8x8, or 9x9- album just on that one topic. Theme albums are a great way to get started since you only have to worry about buying products that support your theme.

As far as how you "should" do it, there is no right or wrong way. You are doing this for you and only you. Anyone who sees these albums will instantly think you are the smartest, most creative person in the whole world. No one will criticize you for creating chronological albums or "this is the page I feel like creating today" albums. Putting all of the pictures of you and your sis on one page is just as effective as spreading out those photos to their chronological place. It's all about you and how you want to create the album.

I'm scrapping tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you. Good luck!

I would try and put them into one book and if you can put them in date order as near as possible it makes it flow nicely when you look back on it. But your Groupings look good. Checkout some scrapping sites and give yourself some interesting titles for your pages instead using popular phrases like " Like mother like Daughter" or "Hush little baby" whatever can work. If you know the dates try and put them somewhere in the page, it can be very discreat or not.

And try putting things at different angles, writing does not have to be Horizontal turn it 90 degrees for a change for example.

Some good sites to look at are http://www.scrapjazz.com/gallery/

Or look up http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/ this is one of my favourites.

Just do not be frightened to experiment, lay it out before sticking down and if you need more inspiration come back to it later.

If you know other Scrapbookers see if you can look at their books for some new ideas. It will also give you an idea of what you think didn't work.

Look for paper and extras that match with your photo, like if you were wearing a red dress try and use that as the main colour of your page. Hope you have fun with it...

Put as many as you can in one album in chronological order. If you run out of space, keep the trend going into another album. If you go chronolagically, you don't have to find spaces next to the Christmas '04 pictures to stuff Christmas '06.

I don't scrapbook in order...I just go through pictures and my papers and whatever strikes my fancy...I make a page out of!

Right now I put them all in the same albums...someday I will seperate them out, but I don't think you have to start out that way!

There are a ton of message boards out there for scrappers!

I would seperate into to 2.

One album for "dated" photos

the other album for "non-dated" photos
