My son's class is having a competition for who can make the best valentine's mailbox for Valentine's Day. I need a really creative idea - so he can have one of the best! (Ideas besides the obvious - a box shaped like a mailbox.)

I made a boombox valentine mailbox one time in elementary. It was really neat.

Does it have to be a box? It can't be a hanging banner cut and sewn with cut out blue jeans pockets. One for each child to slip in their contribution? If it has to be a box, you can cover the box with these same pockets and any other jeans decorations and glue on a felt heart (with name) or two to make it an official "Valentine" box. Cover the slot with a blue jean hat "hinged" at the back, with a felt heart shape glued onto the front, (to lift up before they slide in the card.) Another (upside-down) hat to hold golden chocolate coins maybe with a paper Heart on the backside, for each contributer to take instead of in the cards given out) would be cool for them. Any or all of the above suggestions, you pick.
working for the post office mail boxes come in different shapes now. You can use the idea above and put the "slot" or "door" where ever you would like.

You should put red and white hearts all over it, make them in different sizes (small, medium, large). Then write happy Valentines Day across it.
