i need to make a small quilted item by wedensday 12-12-07 for a gift exchange, does anyone know what i can do?

An easy and quick item would be a one block quilt to be used on a table under a candle. You would make the block and put thin batting and a coordinating backing on it and bind it just like it was a big quilt. Good way to use some pretty Christmas fabrics. There are many nice 12" blocks to choose from on the Quilters Cache web site. This is a good size for this project.

A small quilted tote bag with a few pockets, candle mat-use cotton batting, pp three trees sew them end to end, put 1" finished background around them, then a 3.5" finished tree related fabric around that, machine quilt echo around the trees, in the ditch at the border. I made one of these to teach a two friends on how to pp. Really cute!

How about a set of quilted potholders? Quick and easy. You could also buy some tea towels and quilt along the two ends to match the potholders.

you can do a pillow. Put together 9 squares (3rows x 3 rows) and one large square for the back. I did this recently for my chair at home. I picked out 3 colors of brown suede cloth (feels like suede but isn't) and arranged the colors like this:

It came out beautiful and you can sew pretty buttons where the corners connect or use ribbon bows. :)
