This is a picture of the different stitches and how to make them. All you would have to know now is the lessons up to number 11. The rest is how to do the afghan stitch..Ch-chain hdc- half double chain dc double chain. There is also the tdc which would be wrapping the yarn around your needle 2 times and taking them off 2 at a time. Hope this will help you to read the instructions. If I can help you any further check my avatar and e-mail me and I will help you through the pattern. I was able to find a vido for knitting a bootie but you said crochet.

If you can make the basic stitches, like single crochet, then you can make baby sandals.... Use some baby weight yarn.

Make a little rectangle about 3 inches long and 1 and 1/2 inches wide, using single crochets or double crochets.

When you get towards the part where the foot is a little wider, start your row like you always do, and in the middle, instead of making one stitch, make two IN THE NEXT STITCH, and keep on down the row like always.

Then, when you reach the last row, if you're using single crochets for your pattern, just skip a stitch right in the middle. no one will notice and it will make it smaller (and rounder) on that last row.

When you reach the length you like, make a chain, and then make single crochet all around your sandle. Then make a band for the the front and sew on each side.

Make another band, this one with a little loop, and sew to the back. Run some ribbon through the loop and you're done!

Check out how it will sort of look like, since you'll be working in rows instead of rounds:

Can you see the loop where the ribbon will be in the back? It will take just a couple of hours to make both. If you need help, ask the pattern's designer... she'll help you! ;)

And... you know what? Take the plunge, like the other Yahoo Answerer suggested. Give it a try and learn to read the patterns. You'll be glad you did!

Hope this helps!

This has obviously helped someone, so perhaps it will help you.

I do agree with the point that the previous poster was making about looking at the pattern in small bites. I do, however, suggest reading the entire pattern through once to be sure there is nothing that says something like "at the same time ...." and miss out on an important part of the instructions. After you've glanced through it, you really do need to just look at it bit by bit. If you get stuck on a line or a stitch, you can always come back and I'm sure lots of people, including myself, would be happy to help you out with your issues.

I hope this helps in some way or can at least give you the courage to just start a pair of booties :)

Good Luck!

Sorry I can't help with instructions, but I have some advice about reading patterns. Don't try to read them like you would a book. Read the first instruction (not the first line, only the first stitch), do it, then read the next stitch. If you work you way through one stitch at a time you will find you can read any pattern. It opens up so many more opportunities!!

Here are links to some photos that have the abbreviations for the stitches marked right on the photos (this can make it easier to understand what crochet abbreviations mean and make it easier to read crochet patterns after that, so you can make baby booties and many other things from crochet books). Follow the links below and you may surprise yourself at what you can learn from them and what you will understand about crocheting ... and what you may be able to crochet afterwards.

With the suitable element dealing with you, connect shade A with a slip stitch on the midsection on the back element. Chain a million, a million single crochet in each and every of the subsequent 7 stitches. Then I presume you could turn the artwork ninety tiers and artwork down the element it fairly is the instep, and artwork 5 single crochets down that element. artwork 3 single crochets into the corner (the place you will turn back ninety tiers). 3 single crochets in this element and then 3 back interior the corner. turn yet another ninety tiers. artwork 5 single crochets on the different element of the instep. then turn yet another ninety tiers and a million single crochet interior the subsequent 7 stitches ought to deliver you back to the place you began. i'm not one hundred% useful with out easily having the artwork in front of me. i can not study forward in training, they do exactly not make sense to me till i'm holding the piece of artwork. and then it extremely is like oh that's what I do. don't be afraid to attempt doing it, and if it would not' artwork out you could start back or frog it.
