i just found my grate grandmothers guitar in my attic that i had not seen in years. i know it has to be worth something and i would like to know somewhere around an exact price, it is a "Monarch guitar" that was made by a "Carl Fischer" and it is some ware around 70-78 years old and in great condition, besides a few minor scratces & smudges. So if you know anything about how much it is worth. Thanks!

well monarch didnt exactly make the guitars. they actualy had other companies make them and put monarchs name and symbol on them. so pretty much they were made by the company carl fischer and monarch sold them. but theyre from between the 1890s and 1940s so if its in good condition itll be worth hella money especialy to a collector theyd pay an extravagent ammount for it. but i wouldnt suggest selling it becuase of how old it is thats something to hold onto. like i have a 1962 ampeg reverberocket guitar amp. its 50 watts, takes 7 tubes and its in great condition and im not getting rid of it becuas it was my grandfathers and its too sweet sounding to sell or even have the thought of getting rid of.

It wasn't made by Carl Fisher - that was the name of prominent music store in New York City. It is probably worth very little since it's an off brand. If it were a Martin or Gibson from that time period it might be worth something. Is there a country of origin listed on the label inside the guitar?

You can always check with a store that deals in vintage instruments like Mandolin Brothers or Elderly Instruments. They may be able to tell you more about it and give you an estimate.
