Eyelets vs loops for corset?

I am changing the back of my wedding gown from having a zipper to a corset top.

Which would be better to have the ribbon weaved through....eyelets or those loops?

I'm not totally sure how to even make the loops ( is it just taking the ribbon & sewing them onto the dress & can you use normal ribbon, or would they break)?

Both ways would be ok depending on the style of your gown.

I'm assuming you have a bit of knowledge in how to alter things.

Depending on the weight of your fabric eyelets I would find simpler to put in for a neat finish, as it allows you just to take the zip out and put them straight on. You could always leave your zip in and put the eyelets in for decoration if you wanted. however if your fabric's really heavy then you might have trouble putting them in.

The loops might be a little more complicated, as you would need to turn the fabric in, in order to get the effect of the ribbon. You would then be left with a gap between each side under the ribbon. You could use ribbon for the loops, or a satin cord however, without a zip for support I can't see this idea being as sturdy as the eyelets, and it would be more difficult to implement if you thought about keeping the zip.

Your choice, but I'm inclined more towards eyelets.

Hope it works out well!

I think if you can find eyelets in a mother of pearl they would work really well. They would be easy to sew on also.

you can press grommets into the fabric and then embroider over them so they are completely covered.

Make sure you use grossgrain ribbon... it is stronger.

they have corset laces which is like shoe laces... but it might not wrok with the fabric color.

go to Alter years.com they have everything you will need,

eyelets sounds better, plus they would be more sturdy and less likely to break
