I just bought a Brother Duetta at a fabulous price because Brother just came out with a newer model. I have been using an Artista for many years and I find this a very quiet and very easy machine to use. This did have the Disney designs which I probably won't use because I don't have anyone to use it for but I love how nicely this works. Check around and ask for any special deals because they have just come out with a newer model.

Hi, Bernice.

Brother is a very good brand and is very user friendly.

Models ending with the letter D are Disney machines and have Disney designs built in.

Other models do not have these designs, nor can you load these designs to any other brand or model of Brother.

You did not indicate you were interested in Disney, but it was mentioned by someone without any explanation.

Make a list of the things you would like in the way of bells and whistles.

Opt for an embroidery area of at least 5 x 7. A lesser area will limit the size of the design you can stitch out.

Visit as many dealers as you can to test the different models.

Babylock is another brand in the Brother family. They usually are a little more expensive.

There are Futura groups on Yahoo should you decide to keep the Singer.

Best wishes.

Hello,

As for me I had to ask myself a question that turned out to be a very important one. Did I need to sew while the embroidery was being done.? hmmm. The answer was yes. While I am sewing I can still embroider. With a combiunation machine I could not. So for that reason I decided on a machine that could embroider while this would enable me to sew at the same time. The choice for me was a Berina Deco.

I could still sew on my regular sewing machine, use only the embroidery designs I needed with the change of a card or select one that is pre programed insde with out of the connecting to the internet. I have had that machine for over 6 years and have never had one problem. I went to a sew and vac dealer and they were great.

Make sure there is no pressure form the sales person regardless of what you choose. You are the only one who knows what bells and whistles that is right for you. I love my bernina. And by the way.. Bernina owns brother and white...

I have a Singer Quantum Futura 200(? - box was damaged in move a couple of years ago - I think that is the correct number).

There are some Yahoo groups that are just for the Singer Quantum Futura embroidery & sewing machines - have you checked out any of them to see if they can provide some help?

I know that there were a lot of tips available in the files section - photos on how to set the machine up, and other hints to get the most out of the machine that really helped me.

Run a search on groups with the key words Singer Quantum Futura. Or run a search on Brother embroidery machines and see which ones get raved (good) about and which ones get ranted (bad) about!

One of the best Brother embroidery machines at the moment is the Innov-Is 1200, it's pretty expensive but there's not much it doesn't do!

I tried a Brother a couple of years ago. It did ok but most of the patterns on disc were Disney. I ended up with a Husqvarna Rose which I don't use nearly as often as I should.

Stop by a sewing store (Sew & Vacs-around here). They have several different models and brands available to try. That's what I did and ended up getting machine used and a great savings. If I ever upgrade it will definitely be a Bernina .
