Specifically I'm looking for directions for how to make a construction paper christmas wreath that can be used as a centerpiece on the table. I have searched for a couple of hours this morning and have found nothing. I vaguely remember making them when I was a child and know that they're very simple to make.

How about tracing the children's hands onto green paper. Cut them out and glue them together to form a large wreath? You should vary the angles and overlap them to make the wreath look full. It would be especially pretty if you used light and dark green hands on the wreath, to add interest and depth.

well it depends if the if the glue is in liquid form. if it is, you could make a paper mache project. Tear pieces of newspaper or any other paper into small pieces, start pasting it around a bowl or blown up balloon.you can build different stuff and you will be amazed what great ideas children have. another idea: let the kids make their own masks and then let them construct a little play to portray the masks that they made.

ok.. Green Construction paper. Fold in half long ways. Cut paper on fold every inch or so dont go all the way to the end leave about 1 inch or so from edge.. after you are done cutting. unfold and refold in the opposite way. staple on the ends. then form a ring and either staple or tape ends to gether.. Wa La a wreath! I did this as I typed this. So it really works.

Paperchains are fun to make also. =)
