For girls this age, I'd recommend using stretchy cord for everyday bracelets. If these are items they're going to wear on special occasions, it's okay to use more traditional jewelry making methods using crimp tubes and jewelry wire.

I highly recommend the following sites for beading materials, as I have purchased from all of them.

Brightlings Beads - great service, good prices and regular coupons in your email http://www.brightlingsbeads.com/ If you're going to do personalized name bracelets, I've found that they have the best prices on silver cube letter beads.

Fusion Beads - Great inspiration ideas, although a little more on the sophistcated side http://www.fusionbeads.com/

Is this project for girls 8-10 or do you just want something easy for that age group to put on?

Either way Memory wire and size 6-8 seed beads and add some charms and that would be great.

First you place a loop at one end of the memory wire, string the beads and place another loop at the other end when finished. And just pop the bracelet on.

get a package of the streachy plastic cord, and a package of plastic beads, cut the cord about ten inches long, string beads on it, measure on a wrist to see how long it needs to be, then tie the streachy cord as the cord package instructs.
