Well, I had this thimble, my great, great, great, great aunt had this thimble when she was a child. Now, my great grandmother has given this to me. She said it was covered in real gold, but, for certain, I don't know. It has a design of houses at the bottom, and a blank area with a small '9' at the top. Please, if you are a good antique/thimble expert, please state how much this would be worth. Thanks so very much. :)

Your thimble is quite beautiful! And to have the family history is wonderful. If it were me, I wouldn't sell it, but of course, I LOVE thimbles. The 9 on the band in the cartouche (area for engraving) indicates the thimble is a size 9. It looks to be American. It has a faceted rim and a scene on the band with a stippled background. Early gold thimbles were not marked as to their content, so to be sure you need to have it tested. However, some methods of testing will damage your thimble and thus make it worth less. A local antiques dealer or a local jewelry store may be able to help you. If there are no holes in the thimble (hold it up to the light and look thru the end where you insert your finger) and it is not out of round, I would estimate the value to be around $100.

Can't identify it from the picture, so I can't be much help. It makes a big difference whether it is gold or gold-filled, and what carat gold it is. If there are any makers markings inside, it might help answer your questions, otherwise, you'll have to have it tested by a jeweler. As a gold filled antique, it might run $50-$100. If it's solid gold, depending on the carat and weight, it could be from $75-$250. Check your towns jewelers or antique dealers, or auction houses, there may be special days when they offer free appraisals.
