im not even sure where i could go to ask this, so i chose the first place i thought of, here : )

ok, i really want to do something nice for my girlfriend for Christmas. this is our first together. well, she loves this video and says all the time how she wishes she had that bear:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9jjM74-Nx0

well im gonna try to hand make it as a stuffed bear. the only problem that i am having is getting the pattern. i need a pattern to use to cut the cloth out in the right shapes. i am a 3d modeler. i can easily make this bear in 3D. so i was thinking of using 3ds max and make a 3d version and then some how use that and take it apart some how and flatten it to create the pattern. but there isnt really a way to "flatten" it in 3ds without messing up the shape. is there possible another program i could use to either import a .obj file of the bear or create it from scratch to help make the pattern. when i think of this, those paper models people make comes to mind. there programs out there for them, so i was hoping someone could help me with some ideas.

now i know how to sew and where to get the fabric. my only problem is getting the pattern. everywhere i look, i dont see one that even resembles this bear, so im having to make my own.

Hi

Check out the light blue teddy with the pink bow.... Just pinch the ears a little and put more stuffing in the belly... Not to bad....

I would suggest trying the Simplicity patterns website and the McCall's patterns website. (You can find them easily enough, I'm sure, if you know how to do all this other stuff on a computer.) Check out their toys and crafts sections, and maybe even the baby stuff. I'd recommend starting on the Simplicity site, and going to McCall's if they don't have anything that'll work. Check out the patterns and find a basic teddy bear. Then, once you get the pattern home, modify it a bit to make it that bear. It's easier to do that than to create your own from scratch if you're not used to making your own patterns. Take the basic shaping from the pattern, then have fun. Make the arms & legs narrower and the head a little wider, for instance, and/or sew them on a little differently. Use the right fabrics that will be right for that particular bear. He almost looks like he was made form terry washcloths, doesn't he?

Best of luck with this. If you start with a printed pattern (a good one, like you'd get from these two sites) I think it'll work well. If you get a pattern and then have more questions, feel free to email me by clicking on my avatar for an email link. Please be specific with your questions, though. I have folks email about things fairly often, and I need to know who's who and what pattern we're talking about.

1st: Muhammad is in easy terms a prophet to Muslims, not a God, lol! 2d: the full element is ridiculous. third: i think of Muslims are in basic terms indignant with the West frequently, after Palestine, Iraq & many different occupations & stealing. now this is thoroughly incorrect what's happening in Sudan, yet then, how approximately Iraqi civilians & Palistinians...& ..& ..& eeeeeeeeh....strawberry fields..

u could think of a specific type of bear

imagine it's shape then cut that shape out of cloth then cut out another one for the back then cut out the perimeter then stuff it with cotton or something
