I have a book that has crafts and what not for toddlers, and in the recipe for Silly Putty it has parts in it. I usually don't the old ones. I wanted to try this one though. Thank you for you answers!! =0)

if you have a recipe and it says 1 part water to 2 parts flour, it is a ratio. it can be written 1:2, or 1 to 2. it is helpful if you want to vary the sizes of the batches you are making. for example let's say you are making something small. 1 ounce water and 2 ounces flour. or if you want more, 2 cups water and 2 cups flour. hope this is helpful.

For example: 1 part water, 2 parts flour and 1 part sugar means a part is a percentage of a whole. If there is a total of 4 parts then each part is 25% of the total volume. In this case water is 25%, flour is 50% and sugar is 25%. The actual volume of a part depends on the total volume you wish to create. Two "parts" is twice the volume of a single "part".

it can be cups or table spoons as long as the ammount is one third one thing and two thirds the other. its all according to how much you want.
