I am disabled and spend a lot of time in bed. I am sick of reading and don't like to watch tv, or crochet, needlepoint, knit, latch hook rugs and such.

Paint, I'm not talking about creating huge paintings, I mean paint small plaques, mini canvasses, blank cards and envelopes (you'll need good quality paperstock, tho' so the paint doesn't seep through and use acrylic paints you might check Walmart for that stuff, it'll be cheaper, or go to a craft store, like Michael's). You could use polymer clay to create mini statutes, earrings, brooches, pendants, beads for necklaces, etc. When you're done, if you are able, you can bake them in your oven. Or have someone else do it. What about learning origami (sounds funny, but I'm just trying to be creative)?? What about a small weaving project?? And, then, I have the typical ideas: puzzles (the regular kinds or crossword), playing cards, scrapbooking??

Hope that helps. =)

For crafts--You can do paint by numbers sets, or watercolors on smaller pieces of paper. What about sewing? There are lots of kits that you can get online to sew animals and cushions and such. There are some lovely books out these days with lots of gorgeous black & white pictures to color. Also, drawing works in a small space...can use charcoal, pastels, etc...

For hobbies, puzzle books are good...have you tried Suduko? Very addicting!

I know you said you're tired of reading, but maybe listening to a book on tape? The library rents these out now even.

I hope you get some ideas on new things to do =)

I suggest that you contact a charity group and find out what you could make that would bring joy to others. A while back, Oprah did a show on girls in Ethiopia who had fistulas. A woman saw the show and decided to make beaded bracelets for each of the girls. She made hundreds of them (along with the help of her friends) and it brought these women a joy they have never known.

Our minds and hearts go into a very positive place when we point our actions toward helping others. You could knit, crochet or sew little hats for premature babies. You could make blankets for babies or little bags for homeless children. You could put together toiletry kits for homeless women. You could make packets of stationary with envelopes and stamps for homeless people.

There are so many things that you could do to help others – and you would quickly learn that in turn, they are helping you.

Call local homeless shelters, ministries that help battered women, or organizations that have an international outreach. Ask them for ideas of things you could do given your circumstances. This may be one of the greatest healing agents that enters your life.

Frida Kahlu painted while bed-ridden. If you can, rent the movie Frida; it is a very good telling of her life story and may inspire you to pick up a paintbrush.
