I have decided to pick up knitting and crocheting again. I quit because I couldn't make one thing and I got to frustrated. I really would like to be able to do this, so what are some good projects for a beginner who hasn't done a project before?

I enjoy both, but I learned how to crochet long before I learned how to knit. Maybe I'm biased, but I feel like crochet is easier to learn, easier to master, and since it's easier with crochet to go back and make corrections in your piece, it's easier to finish a project. Like lib.rare.ian suggested, if you did want to pick up one craft again before you moved on to the other, I'd say start with crochet, and start with something small, like snowflake ornaments or bookmarks. http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/snowflakes.php That way, you'll get that boost of confidence that you can actually finish something, even if it's just a little thing, in order to work your way up to bigger projects.

I crochet, and my first projects were dish washcloths.you use the cotton yarn, and they are really manageable size projects.also, if you screw up, it's not a lot to take out. I chain around 30, do a turn, then dc in all, turn, dc the row again, etc until I make it the length I want.

When I started out I learned how to crochet amigurumi stuffed toys, it teaches you the basic decreases and increases and how to crochet in the round. then try baby blankets to learn half-double, double and trebble crochets. youtube is also great is youre a visual learner, or you can read patterns if you learn by reading. me i learned by trying and trial and error. you will suck at first, but you have to keep trying. im trying to learn knitting and it is so much more complicated to me, but im getting better at it. so dont give up!

Pick one craft, either crocheting or knitting, and get proficient at it before you go on to learn the other craft.
Dishcloths or scarves are simple in either craft.

Granny squares would be a good first project. They're fun!
