Is it rock, paper, scissors or is it paper, rock, scissors?

Question

I went to Vietnam with Gap Adventures and had the most fabulous trip that really made me appreciate what I have but through out that trip the Austrians and Americans (I am American) found out that everything we say and do is completely opposite the other.
So the Austrians say its paper, rock, scissors (We all know that the Austrians do everything backwards)
While the Americans say it is rock, paper, scissors
Which way does it really go?

It all depends where your from and/or personal preference. Where I live (New Zealand) we say Paper, Scissors, Rock which is different again!



Still a good game though, and it's handy for deciding things (like who has to go naked to the funeral) no matter how you say it.

Based on what you said above, it is rock paper scissors in America and it is paper rock scissors in Austria. Some countries have different and creative ways to say rock paper scissors in a certain language or they say something else like fire water wood or wood fire water or something else like that and some countries just say it in english but in a different order than other countries and you saying that Austrians say paper rock scissors and Americans say rock paper scissors is an example of that. Everyone I play with always shoots rock or scissors the first time. Nobody I play with ever shoots paper the first time. This game is all about luck, but I guess there can be a strategy.

It rock, paper, scissors because you are making a rock shape. I am Australian and we play as paper, scissors, rock because it sounds better but it is really rock, paper, scissors. But Who really cares, it is the same game, if you think about.

its rock paper scissors. the rock starts it because you can easily go to paper or scissors from rock.
