How do you craft your own sword in the game Dark Messiah?

Question

I put the brick in the fire and crafted the shape of the sword. Then put it in the water. Then into the fire. When I try to bring it to the sword making tool it says that this sword is not ready to complete.

The way you make a sword is you put the brick in the pot. Then you move the pot over the fire. Pump the bellows a few times. Then move the pot over the mold. After it pours in the mold, flip the switch to fill it with water. This creates a blade. Get the blade. Then walk directly to the fire and put the blade in there. Watch the blade. When it turns red, it is ready. Take the blade out of the fire and put it on the anvil. Take the smith hammer and equip it as a weapon. Hit the blade until it says it is done. Pick up the blade again and put it inside the handle making tool. The finished sword will pop up next to the handle making tool and can be picked up now.



Steel makes a longsword. Flamegold makes an Earthfire sword (far more powerful). Note that undead are not vulnerable to fire as they are in other games. The superior naga silk sword is more powerfula against them than the earthfire sword. Earthfire sword kicks the crap out of humans and spiders though (so does the staff of the firelord). If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you find those weapons later in the game. Oh yeah, you won't find a flamegold bar until later in the game. When you do, hold on to it. Another smithy will be coming up.
