Make musical instruments from "clean" garbage. Have some garbage items and craft items (cans, bottles, jugs, rice, cereal, string, rubberbands, glue, cardboard, jars, sticks, etc...). This is a good way to recycle old garbage items in a creative way! (this is also a project I intend to have my students do once I have a regular music teaching job)

Nature rubs: have the kids take a few pieces of paper and some crayons and make rubs of things such as tree bark, rocks, or anything cool they can find to make a texture on their paper. (then for the art portion have them make picture frames for their pictures!)

Just something fun to do: It's called "Rain"

Have the kids in a line-ish formation. Start at one end having the kids follow what you do. When you get to the end of the line, go back and change the action. It will sound like a tunderstorm coming and going because of the overlapping of sounds. Here's the order:

Rub hands together (swishing sound)

Snap fingers

Pat lap

Clap hands

Stomp feet

Clap hands

Pat lap

Snap fingers

Rub hands together

Stop

Hope some of this helps!

4 nature-and art-take a walk through the woods and have each of the kids say a name of an animal or plant in the woods, from A-Z, then go back to camp central and have the kids sit down and make books with pictures of all the things that were named,

*** you might need to research the harder letters ex. Q&Z if they will need help, i am 35 years old and i still remember that from my days at camp, but those were simpler times. GOOD LUCK!!!

Depending on the age of the kids at the camp, you might want to scout out the Oriental Trading Company (www.orientaltrading.com, I think) and see what they have to offer. They sell pre-packaged craft kits in lots of a dozen or so. Glue, paints, and similar materials are usually not included, so be sure to see what you need to go with each kit. They also sell craft "blanks" to embellish as you choose, things like visors, caps, bandannas, bags, leather wrist bands, etc.

familyfun.com is the best ! It gives you by age group as well !!! And it has all the crafts you need for art, drama, music, nature and sports.

Gives all the outside games to play, art, stories and etc...trust me, you will love it !!!

You can make a puppet show about some musicians that want to start a rugby team...make it a musical !!! have the kids make the puppets, write some music and scripts and use natural things like twigs, leafs and etc !!???????

I , myself would do Plastic Canvas projects. I have worked them with my 8 and 9 year old niece and nephew and they loved them. The plastic canvas is cheap, the yarn goes a very long way, the needles are extremely large, and they each ended up with refrigerator magnets. You can go online for patterns or go to a Wal-mart or any craft store for a pattern, and have the children cut the canvas out themselves, (i had to with the little ones) They had great fun.

you could teach kids how to make milk carton vehicles,,you take half gallon milk cartons, paint the sides a cut pieces of cellophane to use as the windows, for the wheels you could use different colored big buttons which you glue to the carton, two in the front and two in the back.these wheels are not made to move. I hope this makes a hit with the kids. mumbles mamma
