Will be making a scarf for mother's day with white, rose pink, and hot pink yarn. Wondering if the darker hot pink color will run and ruin it. Thanks for all your help!

I have had the dark Lily colors run, especially the dark reds, purples, navy blue and black. Every time I use them now, I first wind the skein onto a wire coat hanger and tie it in several places to keep it from coming unwound. Then I soak it in the sink in very hot water that I have added 4 tablespoons of salt and 1 cup vinegar. after swishing it around over a 15 minute period, I rinse it in cold water bath at least 3 times, then let it hang dry. That will normally set the colors so they don't run,
Just to be on the safe side, if you are worried, and it's already made, tell your Mom it's best to wash it in cold water.

You always do a test with any yarn you are starting to work with. Cut off a short length, or knit a sample, if you like. Wash or soak in hot soapy water for about 10 min. Take it out, and use a clean white cloth (that you don't mind staining) and squeeze the sample between the white cloth. Does any colour come out? Then you will know for sure. Most synthetics don't run, but some other fibres may. I've used Sugar'n'Cream for a long time, and have never had much problem with any of the colours running. But always wash them after you finish your project, just to be safe, and if you notice a lot of running, warn the person about this, or make them something else. Other people just are not as careful washing things as we are!

You could try making a small swatch of all of the colors you want to use.. Run the small swatch through a regular wash cycle according to the yarn label directions with a regular load of laundry. See what happens.
Or hand wash the scarf, per yarn label instructions by itself to see what results you get.
I know that scary feeling when you go to wash something that is a gift and you want it to be perfect.
I have used Sugar'n Cream Yarn before and haven't had them run, but I haven't used the pink, white, pink combo.
Good Luck, your mom will love the scarf!

The Lily colors are definitely color fast!! You can check by clipping off a little bit and putting it in a bowl of hot water with a bit of detergent.
I have never had any problems with Lily yarns! And I am a fiberholic for over 50 years now.
